Premiere Mobile is now available for Android and can be used for free, according to Creative Bloq. For basic editing, you do not need a Creative Cloud subscription or an Adobe account. The app offers various tools for mobile video editing, but has technical requirements and still differs from the desktop workflow.
What's included for free
The app provides a multi-track timeline where you can combine video, music, text, voiceovers, and effects. It also includes frame-accurate editing, the ability to record voiceovers directly in the app, and Enhance Audio. This feature is supposed to clean up background noise with a single tap.
According to Creative Bloq, templates created by creators and unlimited 4K exports are included for free. No subscription or Adobe account is required for basic editing.
Requirements and paid features
The app requires Android 13 or newer and at least 5 GB of RAM. Therefore, it is not suitable for every Android device.
Some AI features are not part of the free basic offering: Generative Fill, Image-to-Video, and Generate Sound Effects operate through generative credits that need to be purchased.
Not yet a replacement for the desktop workflow
Several features known from desktop editing are still pending, according to the source. Keyframes, beat detection, Adobe Fonts, advanced subtitles, and the ability to continue working on a project in Premiere Desktop are marked as "coming soon."
What this means for you
For you, Premiere Mobile can offer a free entry into video editing on Android – including a multi-track timeline and 4K export. Check in advance if your device meets the requirements for Android version and RAM. If you rely on AI features or switching a project to desktop, note that credits may be necessary for that, and further editing on the desktop is still listed as announced. The classification of features and requirements follows the report from Creative Bloq.
