Gift wrap with paper flower: Step-by-step guide with photos and comments

In this craft project, as in all others, we try to use only materials that are available in every household or can be found in the nearest store. For our special gift wrap, you will need wrapping paper, glue, and scissors.

A practical tip: Choose wrapping paper in a color that fits the occasion. Metallic colors like gold or silver look particularly elegant and are suitable for many occasions. Depending on the occasion, you can also include matching greeting cards, as shown in our example picture.

Required materials:

  • Wrapping paper (we are using gold paper here)
  • Regular tape
  • Double-sided tape
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue
  • The gift you want to wrap

Gift wrap with paper flower, step 1: Preparation and basic folding

First, check if you have everything you need for this wonderful wrapping: wrapping paper, regular and double-sided tape, scissors, and hot glue. Then place your gift on the paper to determine the size of the paper needed, and cut a suitable piece from the roll. Start folding about one-fifth of the sheet. Fold one centimeter upward, then another centimeter, and so on.

In the second step, we need to create a pattern from our folds. For this, we need to make a so-called axis displacement at this point. Watch the video to see how I do this. After that, we will wrap the gift. For securing, we will use hot glue and tape.

Now we will begin making the decoration that we will attach to the wrapping. We will make an embellishment in the shape of a flower. To do this, we begin folding another piece of paper in an accordion style.

Fold the paper like an accordion, then glue two pieces together. Create two such elements and glue them together. Then attach this flower to your gift with double-sided tape.

Creative gift wrapping and its significance

The art of creative gift wrapping is a wonderful way to give your gifts a personal touch. A handmade wrapping with a handmade paper flower shows that you have made a special effort. This attention is often appreciated by the recipients just as much as the gift itself.

In Japanese culture, the wrapping of a gift is often given as much importance as the content. You can implement this philosophy in your own way with our guide. The fan flower we crafted is reminiscent of folded paper art (origami) and adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to your gifts.
