Impressive facts about the cheetah

The cheetah is not only the fastest land animal but also one of the most elegant. These stunning cats can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h, but only for short distances of about 200 to 300 meters. Their bodies are perfectly adapted to high speed – with a sleek, aerodynamic body and disproportionately large nostrils that allow for rapid oxygen intake. Cheetahs are primarily found in open savannas and semi-deserts of Africa, where they hunt their prey, typically smaller antelopes. These big cats have a distinctive black and yellow coat with narrow stripes that help them camouflage in their environment. Once a year, they usually give birth to two to five young, who quickly learn to hunt independently.
