Bambu Lab is replacing all four feeder units on some of its AMS 2 Pro units and is covering the cost of replacement parts and shipping. The affected batch consists of units whose feeder units were built between May and July 2026. According to the manufacturer's service notice, the gears received too little grease during production.
The AMS 2 Pro is the spool box that feeds up to four filament spools one after another into a Bambu Lab printer. Each spool has its own feeder unit with a motor and gears. According to Bambu Lab, it does not know exactly how many devices have the defect. The manufacturer is therefore replacing the units in all devices of the batch, even those that are still running without problems. According to Bambu Lab, devices currently sold in the official shop are not affected.
Is your AMS 2 Pro affected?
Only the serial number decides, not the purchase date or retailer. The number is on the frame of the AMS 2 Pro, and the printer's screen also displays it. The English help page for the service program links to the registration form. There you enter the number and immediately see whether your device is included. Devices from specialist retailers, second-hand devices, or gifts also count.
Two devices from the same order can come from different batches, so you should check each one individually. Bambu Lab has already contacted affected customers via MakerWorld and the Bambu Handy app. Bambu Lab sets no registration deadline, but the manufacturer processes the submissions in the order they are received.
What do you get and how does the replacement work?
- four new feeder units per affected device, with Bambu Lab paying for parts and shipping
- a discount code for your next purchase at Bambu Lab, converted into your local currency
- three months of warranty on the new units, counted from the day they arrive at your place
After registration, Bambu Lab creates a support ticket within one to two business days, which will later also contain the tracking number. The manufacturer ships the parts in several waves over the next three to five weeks. You do not have to send the old feeder units back. You do the replacement yourself. The German guide in the Bambu Wiki, where the component is called Feeder-Einheit, lists two hex keys (2.0 mm and 1.5 mm) and 20 minutes per unit. According to this information, all four take you a good hour. The warranty for the rest of the AMS remains intact if you do the replacement yourself following the guide.
What this means for you
It is best to check the serial number of every AMS 2 Pro right away, even if the feeding has worked cleanly so far. If everything is running, you simply keep printing until delivery and only replace the units once the old ones are visibly worn. Fine powder from gear abrasion or errors when loading and unloading the filament, however, are according to Bambu Lab a reason to contact support immediately.
If you have already replaced feeder units at your own expense, it is worth asking: with the serial number and proof of purchase, Bambu Lab will review a refund and send the still missing units. If you are planning to buy a used AMS 2 Pro or a device from a retailer outside the official distribution channels, get the serial number beforehand and check it in the form. According to the manufacturer, devices from the batch may still be in stock at such retailers. Each number can only be registered once.
The three months of warranty are a commitment by the manufacturer. Your statutory warranty rights against the retailer from whom you bought the device remain unaffected. A user reported in the Bambu forum this morning that the form page keeps sending him back to the account login, even in a private browser window. If you get stuck there, a ticket with support will help.
Bambu Lab published the service program on October 27, 2026.
