With an update in November, Apple is bringing MotionVFX's effects, titles, transitions and templates directly into Final Cut Pro for Mac. The announcement is in Apple's press release on Apple Creator Studio, the subscription bundle of Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor and MainStage. Apple acquired the plug-in maker MotionVFX in March 2026.
What is coming to Final Cut Pro with the update?
MotionVFX delivers the bulk of the new features: thousands of elements such as templates, graphics, titles and transitions, as well as tools for rotoscoping (isolating moving objects), tracking and color correction will soon be part of the app. Until now, MotionVFX sold such plug-ins individually and through its own subscription on its website.

In addition, Final Cut Pro gets a Content Hub with stock videos, photos and backgrounds that Apple curates itself. New are images from a text description, more options for smoothing keyframes, and detaching a clip from the primary storyline so you can place it freely in the timeline. For subtitles and searching footage, 23 transcription languages are being added.
You edit an image from the timeline directly in Pixelmator Pro, and the changes land in the project without a new import. What Pixelmator Pro gains itself is covered in our report on Generate Fill in Pixelmator Pro.
What do you get with the one-time purchase?
Apple has so far not revealed which new features will also arrive in the one-time purchase version. On the Apple Creator Studio page, Apple lists the AI features as well as premium templates and a library of royalty-free photos and graphics as benefits for subscribers. Image generation is one of these AI features.
According to DPReview, buyers of the one-time version continue to use MotionVFX via the separate subscription from the maker. Apple has not published a precise comparison of the content of both routes. Based on Apple's German prices, Final Cut Pro in the Mac App Store costs as much as almost three years of Creator Studio with all six programs. According to Apple, you can keep using apps you have already purchased.
What applies in Germany?
In Germany, you subscribe to Creator Studio in the App Store. New subscribers get one month free, or three months when buying a new Mac or an iPad as part of Apple's promotion; university students and teachers pay a discounted education rate. Final Cut Pro for Mac requires macOS 26.6 or newer, and some features require a Mac with an Apple chip.
Two functions of the app remain limited to English (US): searching by image content (visual search) and searching in the transcript. Apple does not list which 23 languages are being added. Whether German is among them therefore remains open.
What this means for you
If you already pay for a MotionVFX subscription for your one-time-purchase version of Final Cut, it is best to compare after the update which of your plug-ins are included in the app. Only then will you know whether you can cancel the subscription with the maker and book Creator Studio.
It is best to save the free trial month until the update has appeared in the App Store. Otherwise you will test Creator Studio without the new content. If you work without a subscription, wait for Apple's description of the update before you switch.
For color looks you are not dependent on MotionVFX: Final Cut Pro also loads LUT files without a subscription, for example from the LUT savings pack with 91 color looks.
Apple presented the new features on October 27, 2026.
