Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group are providing Adobe with excerpts from their catalogs for Premiere mobile, the video editing app for iPhone and Android. According to the announcement on the Adobe blog, you will soon be able to search in the app for artist or title, and filter the results by genre and duration. You then place the excerpt directly in the timeline. Until then, you still have the soundtracks from Adobe Stock, which you can already browse by mood or genre under Music and Audio today.
What can the new music library do?
Adobe announces four features:
- Search songs by artist or title, filter by genre and duration, save favorites and browse the labels' collections
- Use up to 60 seconds of a song in a video
- Use templates in which the editing and music match from the start
- Export finished videos and post them on platforms covered by the license; Adobe does not say which ones those are
Adobe does not mention an extra charge for the music and continues to describe Premiere mobile as a free app in which only tools with generative AI cost money, because they use up Generative Credits from a subscription. We summarized what else the app can do in our article on the launch of Premiere mobile on Android.
What may you use the songs for?
You may only use the songs for private videos. Adobe releases the music from Universal and Warner only for personal, non-commercial use and refers to Adobe Stock Audio for commercial projects, whose soundtracks you can already find in the app today.

Adobe does not explain in the announcement exactly where the line is drawn. Canva, with its library of well-known hits, which likewise allows at most 60 seconds per design, specifies exactly what applies: travel vlogs, wedding videos and birthday cards are allowed, product and corporate advertising are not.
Will the music also come to Germany?
Adobe has so far named neither a launch date nor the countries in which the music will appear. Canva offers its comparable library only in the USA, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and 16 European countries, including France, Italy and Poland.
Germany, Austria and Switzerland are missing from the list. In addition, with Canva you need a Pro or Education account or a team with at most ten members, whereas Adobe presents the music as part of the free app. Whether Adobe has obtained the rights for the German-speaking region will only become clear at launch.
What this means for you
If you edit Reels for clients or for your own business, it is best not to plan on the new music at all. For such videos, the soundtracks from Adobe Stock or music you produce yourself are the safe choice.
For vacation and family videos, it is best to keep Premiere mobile up to date. After the next update, check under Music and Audio whether the songs from the two labels have arrived in Germany. How to cut to the beat of a song is shown in the lesson on Reels with licensed music in Premiere Pro from our Premiere course.
